Tena koutou tena koutou tena koutou katoa

Lana Wolfgram (2)

Thank you for your understanding and support on our second Teacher Strike Day. We appreciated the toots and waves of support as we picketed and marched on Tuesday. It would be ideal if I could inform you that this is the end of the industrial action, but at this point, the next steps are unclear. The government has come back with a slightly enhanced pay offer and a promise of 600 SENCO positions nationwide (for 2,500 schools). Unfortunately, there is nothing in the offer to address teacher workloads and improve teacher recruitment and retention. The next step of the negotiation is to hold a ballot where teachers vote to accept or refuse the latest offer. The ballot will be held in two weeks time. If there is to be any further industrial action, it is likely to be early next year.

Water mains replacement – Corks Road

Over the next few weeks Whangarei District Council are installing a new water main on the school side of Corks Road. This work will impact parking, drop-off space and pedestrian access. Please take extra care in this area and in the interests of safety, consider dropping children off by the Wairau Drive entrance.
