2019 Chopper Appeal Mufti Day
Thank you to everyone who dressed up for our Wacky Day and made a donation for the Rescue Helicopter.
We raised $138.90.
The student council – Ngā Maramara o Tōtara – planted a new totara tree to mark Arbor Day.
Our environmental group celebrated Arbor Day by weeding 2 gardens and planting them with new plants. This was able to be done thanks to the money raised with our Juicies fundraiser earlier in the term. The next stage is to add pebbles to finish off the gardens.
Room 10 recently spent time exploring Dot and Dash Robotics. The children were excited and curious to explore the possibilities these little guys posed.
We were able to practise the skills of collaboration, manaakitanga, problem solving and communication.
Garden To Table
This week At Garden To Table we say goodbye to our wonderful mum and volunteer Vickie. Vickie has been supporting Room 10 Tamariki this year at Garden to Table but has now secured a full time job. Thank you Vickie for all your support, we will miss you a lot but wish you well in your new position. Come back and visit us when you can.
In the garden we were weeding, watering and sorting out our strawberry patch. We learnt that strawberry plants multiply and how we can re-pot them to expand our crop for next season.
In the kitchen we feasted on beautiful cucumber and radish salad with radishes picked from the garden, sweet corn fritters and banana & chocolate chip muffins.
What a beautiful day it was to be outside laughing, working and learning together.
Reporting student absences
We are now sending daily texts or emails to parents of students who have not advised us why their child/ren are absent that day.
Please advise us of any absences before 9.30am each day by calling the office on 4350019, texting 021 0272 4313 or using the ‘report an absence’ option on our website
Students and Cellphones
Cell phones should be kept at home, however if they do come to school they must be handed in to the office or to the class teacher for safe keeping.
Bringing Valuables To School
Children are not allowed to bring toys or valuable items to school and if they do, they do so at their own risk. If for any reason a child needs to bring something special, they can hand it into the office in the morning and collect it at the end of the day.
The dental caravan is now onsite in the school carpark. They will be here until Friday the 21st of June.
The school shares the names, ages and parent contact information with the dental service. Children will automatically be called up for examinations unless records show that parents have chosen to make private arrangements for dental care.
Please call 0800 MY TEETH (69 83384) if you have any concerns.
KIDZONES HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES
Kidzones will be operating for the duration of the holidays from 7.45 to 5.30 each day
