Tena koutou tena koutou tena koutou katoa

Welcome back to Term 2.

Although school is a little different from what the children know, they are showing their resilience and managing the situation well. They are to be commended for settling back into the school routine and learning. They are enjoying being able to connect with their friends and teachers again. It is great to see them back – we did miss them.

As we move through the Levels, the rules and guidelines will be changing but we will keep you up to date with these changes as we are made aware of them.

Thank you for the strengthening of whanau and school relationships over the rahui. The communication and whanau interactions have been a blessing to us as we navigate through these times together.

Kia kaha tatou

TUPU TAHI – GROWING TOGETHER. STANDING STRONG. REACHING HIGH.

Drop Off Zone

On Monday we held the ground breaking ceremony to mark the starting of our drop off zone. This will be a significant asset to our school as it will ease the conjestion in our current car park.

Thank you to Matua Wiremu and his class for leading this ceremony.

Totara Grove School Learner Profile

We would like to share with you our learner profile. It is what the children use to set a goal for themselves to work on for the term. We will use these with whanau at the 3 way conferences (when we hold them – no date yet).  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Qebk5r2JtMEZ182ue3B5GqQo0u71PnzFR9q5Zs7uOg0/edit

Coronavirus

Handwashing to prevent spread

All schools and early learning services are in Level 2 in the pandemic plan. The preventative measures Ministry of Health is encouraging schools and early learning services to practice are those of good hygiene, which include:

  • Washing hands with soap and water before and after eating as well as after attending the toilet
  • Covering coughs and sneezes with clean tissues or with an elbow
  • Putting used tissues in the bin

You will be aware that advice from Ministry of Health asks everyone to wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, making sure you dry them thoroughly. Singing Happy Birthday twice slowly should take about 20 seconds.

Skool Loop App 2020

We are very excited to let you know that we will be using the Skool Loop App this year.

We are now live and encourage you to download and install the Skool Loop App now!

We will be using the App to keep you up to date with events, cancellations and newsletters. You can advise us of the reason for your child’s absence directly through the App.Parent Interviews will be booked through the App and eventually permission slips for overnight trips will also be able to be completed online.

The use of the app is a learning process for us, so please bear with us while we build up the information and uses for the App.

Breakfast Club

The school runs a breakfast club from the hall each morning. Children are welcome from 7:45am and it finishes at 8:30am.
