Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa,

We are halfway through term 4 already and the pace is picking up.
Please check your child’s school bag regularly as there will be more and more notices coming home that outline upcoming events and important information and we don’t want your child to miss out.

The first piece of news that you will need to know is that our school will be joining the free healthy, daily school lunch programme from Term 1, 2021
Lunches will cater for the diet, health and cultural needs of our students, and we will work with suppliers and the Ministry of Education to make sure they are healthy and nutritious. All suppliers will be required to meet New Zealand food safety standards.
The lunches will be available for all our students. However, lunches are not compulsory, and you can continue to provide your child’s own lunch if you wish.
Right now, we are working with the Ministry of Education on the best way to meet our school’s needs.
The programme will run until the end of 2021 and will be evaluated whilst it is running.
This is an exciting project to be part of and sits alongside our school mantra – We care about each child, and each family, and we enjoy working in partnership with families to achieve positive outcomes.
“What’s best for the child” is at the heart of all we do and goes with our school whakatauki

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
Ko te tamaiti, tona whanau, tona ao.
What is the most important thing in this world?
The child, their family, their world.

Spare clothing for emergencies

We are running low on a few items in our emergency/spare clothing. If any parents would like to donated any surplus clothing they have, we are particularly in need of shorts and pants in the smaller childrens sizes.

Award winners

Congratulations to Mrs Grant (James and Ryan’s Nana) who was the winner of our Duffy Grandparent award for 2020. This award was to acknowledge her contributions to school trips and events for her grandchildren. Thank you Alva.

Also congratulations to Charlotte Lewis who was awarded her Platinum Library award last Friday. This is awarded to students who go above and beyond the call of duty to help out in our library and Charlotte certainly has done that since completing her Golden librarian award at the beginning of the year. This award has only been given out 3 times in our school. Well done Charlotte.

This morning we held a ceremony to bless our new kapahaka uniforms – the design was created for us by linking the past (part of the design from the old Kamo East Maori club) and the present (from our Nga Matapono)
