Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa,

Our focus this term is whanaungatanga which is learning about who we are, where we come from and making connections with others.
As a school we are committed to applying our school Ngā Mātāpono principles into all aspects of what we do.
This year we are excited to announce whānau time. This is going to take place every Friday afternoon from 2 – 3 pm. The children will be working in whānau teams (children of all ages will be mixed into groups working across the school). During this time teachers and children will be working on a project or activity together in true tuakana teina.

Just a reminder that we have our ‘Whānau Have a Go Night’ this Thursday (tomorrow) from 5:30-7:00pm. Come along, meet the teachers and have some fun. You may even win a Countdown voucher – 3 winners will be drawn on the night!! We would love to see you there.

On Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th March we will be holding our ‘Whānau Aspirations Kōrero’. This is a time for you to book a time to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your learning aspirations and goals for your whānau. School will be closing early on Wednesday at 1pm to allow us to do this.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
Ko te tamaiti, tona whanau, tona ao
What is the most important thing in this world?
The child, their family, their world

Just a reminder that the office is now to be accessed by entering through the drop off zone side of the school (Off Wairau Rd).
If you wish to come into school during the morning to vist the office or your child/children’s class teacher you may park in the drop off zone parking spaces and enter the school grounds that way. (However in the afternoon it remains a no parking zone.)
The Corks Rd car park is for staff only.

Nga manaakitanga

Kia ora school whanau,
Tikipunga Football Club has invited Totara Grove to enter a 9th grade team into the Whangarei junior competition.
For this to happen we need two adults to volunteer.
One adult would be the coach. This person would get training from the Tikipunga Club and support from me.
The other adult would be the manager. This involves taking parent’s phone numbers and messaging info out. i.e. game times and locations. This person would also get support from the club and me.
They are asking for kids born in 2012, girls can be born 2011. They are aiming to have ten players for the team.
Tikipunga Football would supply the school team with: Boots, shinpads, socks and match kit.
They will also pay the fees for the season and provide a club hoodie for off the pitch.
I have been involved in the Tikipunga Football club for eight years. It is a fun and whanau focused club with lots of volunteers ready to help new families.
For more details come to school and ask for me.
Thanks for your time.
