Tēnā koutou tēnā koutou tēnā koutou katoa,

We have a number of projects that we are undertaking in and around the school at the moment and over the next few months.

A few you may have noticed
– The admin area
– The new drinking fountain in the juniors (where the new concrete has been laid)
– Security cameras
– The ramp on Te Kakano being moved to give better access

A few you may not know about
– A redesigned resource room for staff with a meeting space
– An extended meeting/Board room

A few upcoming projects
– A canopy over the office entrance
– 3 more drinking fountains to be installed throughout the school
– Replacing some broken concrete areas

Our school is a place we are proud of and it is great to have these enhancements which have made learning easier by having break out rooms to work in and more functionable drinking fountains.

Sadly on the weekend we had 3 males enter our school grounds and write on some of the walls around school. However we were lucky enough to get clear photos of them from our school cameras which have been passed on to Police.

Free school lunch programme

This fortnight’s lunch menu:

Blue Light obstacle course

On Monday we had the Police Blue Light Unit come to school and bring their obstacle course for the Year 5 and 6s to have a go on. The kids had so much fun clambering over, under and through the course. They also provided us with a sausage sizzle. Thank you for a great day NZ Police!

School photos will be taken on Tuesday, 1st June.  Orders need to be completed and paid for by Monday, 31st May. Photo order forms have been sent home with the children. Online ordering payable via credit card or direct credit is available at www.lizdaviesphotography.co.nz or if paying by cash, please return the completed form with the correct money directly to the office.

Junior Pepeha Adventure

A reminder that the junior trip is next Tuesday, 25th May.  A timetable will be sent out via the school loop app with more info about what to bring and what to expect for the day. It is vital that the tamariki are at school by 9am for roll call before boarding the bus, which will leave at 9.15am.

Whangarei Primary School’s Winter Sports

Kia ora school whanau,

This term we have the Whangarei Primary Schools Winter Sports.
This will be held at Kensington Park.
It goes from 10:00 until 2:00. Wednesday 2nd June, week5
We will leave school at 9:15 and leave the park in the afternoon at 2:15.

Children will need to bring lunch, water bottle and clothes to keep them warm and dry. Children will also need gear. If they have chosen-
Badminton: shoes, racket and shuttle.
Hockey: mouth guard, shoes and shin pads.
Netball, basketball and table tennis: shoes

We need adults to manage teams. This will mean making sure children are safe and respectful, getting teams ready and on time for games and looking after gear.
We are also asking for help with transport. There are six kids going to Porowini Ave for badminton. There will be room on the bus for everyone but you are welcome to take your own car if you like.
Thanks for your time.  Glen Campbell
