Te Kura o Tōtara Grove
Tōtara Grove School
Kia ora koutou
A very warm welcome to all of the new families who have started at our kura. It is wonderful to have you as part of our whānau. I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday. We are looking forward to the term ahead but it is quite a short one with only just over 8 weeks.
On Monday 31 October, we will be having a ‘Kahui Ako’ staff only day where we will be learning more about Russell Bishop’s Relationships Based learning. It is great working with other schools and our Te Tai Raki Whangarei Kahui Ako group includes the primary schools of Hikurangi, Kamo, Glenbervie, Kaurihohore, Whau Valley and Hurupaki along with Kamo Intermediate, Blomfield, Excellere College and Kamo High School.
This week I would like to acknowledge our ‘I Have a Dream’ Navigators. We are so fortunate to have them at our school and the extra experiences and opportunities they offer are amazing!! I have been most impressed with the manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and aroha they show towards our tamariki. They really enrich our kura with their positive attitudes, beautiful energy and their willingness to go above and beyond for our students in all that they do.
Have a fabulous week everyone.

Totara Grove Football Team
This is the second year Totara Grove School have entered a 9th grade team into the Northland Football Competition. The team played for the Tikipunga Football Club. The season lasted two school terms. The team trained Wednesday afternoons and played Saturday mornings. ‘Tiki Totara’ made huge improvement through the season and were always smiling with great attitudes. Thanks to whanau for supporting the team and the opposition teams.
Prize giving was on the 1st October. The club provided snacks and drinks for the kids and an inside lolly scramble due to the rain. It was a fun event for the team.
