Over the next few newsletters, I would like to mention and acknowledge different groups of staff members who do amazing things for our kura and tamariki. This week I would like to start with Beth Lamb and Deanne Heta who are our Deputy and Assistant Principals. Beth’s main role is to support me in leading our school which she does superbly. She also leads curriculum and assessment for the school. Beth is currently leading our Year 1-3 team as well until we find a replacement for this position and she is doing a great job supporting these teachers and students. Deanne has been at Totara Grove school for 17 years and is well known in our school community. Deanne is a very capable and inclusive teacher who does most of our release teaching school wide. Deanne also supports the school in the SENCO role and is doing an excellent job leading the school with our Mana Orite goals.

Next week is Easter and I hope everyone has a lovely Easter with their whānau. A reminder that schools in New Zealand are also closed on Tuesday as well. Our teachers have a nationwide Paid Union Meeting to attend next Thursday 28 March before the Easter break so we will not have our usual classroom programmes happening that afternoon. If you are able to pick your children up at 1pm that would be much appreciated, otherwise we will have some staff here to supervise students in the hall.
A highlight for our kura this term has been hosting the I Have a Dream Whānau Fun event a couple of Fridays ago. This was an amazing community event and it was so awesome to see so many of our families here enjoying the occasion. We are certainly very blessed to have the I Have a Dream team in our kura. Thank you to all of the sponsors who made this evening so special for everyone. Thank you to Cameron and team for cooking all of the cheeseburgers too, they were delicious!!
Kia pai tō wiki. Mauri Ora!
