Thank you to everyone for celebrating and supporting our recent Pink Shirt Day. It was so wonderful to see so many of our students dressed in pink and there really was a sea of pink throughout our kura on that day. Thank you to Whaea Aimee and Whaea Paige for organising this special event for us. I really loved seeing the enthusiasm and participation around this kaupapa from all of our tamariki.
Over the next week, schools throughout Aotearoa will be having Staff Only Days as instructed by the Ministry of Education. Our day is next Tuesday 4 June, after the King’s Birthday holiday on Monday and the school will be closed on this day. Thank you whānau for your support with this.
One of the main focus areas for these days has been around being prepared for the new curriculum refresh. However, with the recent change of government there is some uncertainty at the moment as to what this refresh will look like moving forward and if it will remain as what the previous government’s guidelines were. Our teachers will be specifically looking at assessment in relation to the new curriculum refresh and our support staff will be receiving professional development around the semantics literacy and zones of regulation programmes we have to support our students here.
I hope everyone has a great long weekend.
