Welcome to Term 3. I hope everyone had a good holiday break. A special welcome to all of our new families who are joining us this term. It is wonderful to have you as part of our Totara Grove whānau. Special welcomes will be held at our assemblies this week. I would also like to welcome Georgina Johnston who has joined us full time this term in Room 8. Georgina is a very experienced teacher and she has been doing relief teaching in our school so is already known to many of our tamariki. We would like to wish Sue Jensen all the best as she leaves to care for her dad.

If you have visited school this week you will have noticed some of the great work that was completed over the holidays to improve our kura. Firstly, we have a new sign to welcome everyone into our kura. It has been especially designed to reflect our school branding and includes our updated logo and the school’s whakatauki:
He aha te mea nui o te ao?
What is the most important thing in this world?
Ko te tamaiti, tona whanau, tona ao.
The child, their family, their world.
This whakatauki is so special and meaningful to us and it is wonderful to have it on our new entrance sign. You will find the yellow sign which used to be at the front of our school now at the Drop Off Zone on the back of Room 14. We think this sign looks great there too.
Other Property work done around the school also included new retaining work and a fence being erected along the footpath side of our driveway. A lot of pruning and trimming has also been done to tidy up overgrown areas. Our excellent painters were also busy painting our interior office doors and touching up different walls throughout the kura. A big thank you to our amazing caretaker Grant Salmon who always does a brilliant job overseeing our holiday work.
Kia pai tō wiki!
