March 2020

Kia ora e te Whanau

Thank you to all of you who have shown considerable support in the last few weeks.

This is an unprecedented event, and will continue to challenge us all.

On our website www.totaragrove.school.nz and Facebook page you will see a list of online resources to support with your home learning plus some fun activities to do as a whanau.

The school holidays are being brought forward so that they are completed within the 4 week period. Holidays will now begin from Monday 30 March to Tuesday 14 April inclusive (a reminder that the Tuesday after Easter Monday is always a closed day for schools).

At the end of the school holidays, schools will be open for distance learning but not physically open for staff to work at the schools.
At this time we have set up class work on Google Classroom for all students.
All children at Totara Grove school have an email address. These are as follows
firstname.lastname@totaragrove.school.nz
eg simon.leaf@totaragrove.school.nz
To sign into your childs google chrome/classroom/email/drive your child needs to use this email.

All juniors and new emails will have the same password
totaragrove
Once you have entered this you will be asked to change your password. Please write this down for future reference.

Once you have signed in you will find all work in the 9 dots in the top right hand corner of the screen. This is where you will find the google classroom. To sign in and find work for your child you need to enter the following code.
prgdhwj
At the top of this page it has four areas
Stream where you will find information and updates from the teachers and school.
Classwork where you will find different work for your child. This will update so keep an eye out for any new work.
People who (teachers and students) has access to this page.
Grades not in use until further notice.

However this work does not become ‘live’ until after the holidays. It starts on the 14th of April. Until this date continue with the resources on the school website and Facebook page.

I iterate the words of the Prime Minister – be kind, keep safe, and look after each other.

Mauri Ora – Manaaki te katoa,

Be well and Be kind to all,

The staff and BOT of Totara Grove School
